Auburn Hills was formerly known as Pontiac Township in Oakland County. One of the first people to settle in Auburn Hills was automotive pioneer John Dodge who bought a farmhouse in the northeast section of Auburn Heights. The town was not known as Auburn Hills until 1964 when it was dubbed as such by the Oakland Community College. Auburn Hills roughly follows the course of Interstate 75, and is home to a prosperous business community which contains businesses such as Comerica, EDS, and Chrysler. The Detroit Pistons basketball team play in the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Auburn Hills Public Library – The Auburn Hills Public Library provides physical publications in the form of books, magazines and encyclopedias as well as a wealth of digital information including online resources and audiobooks. The library hopes to create an environment that meets the educational and recreational needs of the people of Auburn Hills while creating a community that is literate and has high quality of life.

Michigan Sea Life Aquarium – The Michigan Sea Life Aquarium located in Auburn Hills is an aquarium and aquamarine educational institution for the people of Auburn Hills. The Aquarium is a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums or AZA which was founded in 1924 and is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement for zoos and aquariums in the areas of conservation and animal welfare.
