Bloomfield Township is an officially chartered township of Oakland County in Michigan. The Metro Detroit township was organized in 1827, the first township to be established in Oakland County. The main branch of the Rouge River rises in Bloomfield Township. Bloomfield Township is made out of many different communities such as Bloomfield Village, Charing Cross, Circle, and Oak Grove. Bloomfield township has hosted a number of professional golf events including the U.S. Open and the Ryder Cup. Notable natives of Bloomfield Township are Aretha Franklin and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

Bloomfield Township Public Library – The Bloomfield Township Public Library was formed in 1963 with a small library board. The library building was deeded in 1969 and underwent expansions in 2005. Inside the library patrons will find many modern features such as downloadable audio books and an up to date computer lab. The library also hosts classes and meeting spaces for companies.

Bloomfield Historical Society – The Bloomfield Historical Society was created in 2004 as a result of an increased interest in the history of the Bloomfield area and the people
who’ve played a part in making it what it was, and is, today. It is dedicated to fostering an appreciation of the rich history of the Bloomfield area by identifying, promoting and conserving our heritage. We encourage research to educate and engage all generations.

Upper Long Lake – Upper Long Lake is a lake used for both fishing and recreational purposes which sits between Bloomfield Township and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. The Lake is a popular destination for beach goers and boaters alike. The area surrounding the lake is known for its affluence and small neighborhood appeal.
