Rochester Hills is a community located North of Detroit and the northeast of Oakland County in Michigan. Prior to the settlement of Rochester Hills, the area was inhabited by Native American tribes who depended heavily upon the Clinton River and Paint Creek for means of transportation and food. The town was incorporated as a village in 1869. The township adopted a charter in 1948 under the Home Rule Act. In May 1984 the city voted unanimously to become Rochester Hills instead of Avon Hills, as the town was part of what is known as “Avon Charter Township.” The town voted for Rochester Hills due to the town’s extensive history with the name “Rochester.”

Rotary Club of Rochester – The Rotary Club of Rochester is a branch of Rotary International which strives to promote the club’s mantra of “Service over Self” both in the Rochester Hills community and around the world. Rotary is a civic engagement group which focuses on alleviating illnesses such as heart disease, and polio. The organization fights these illnesses monetarily with charitable events such as golf outings, walks, and other charitable fundraisers.

Rochester Hills Chamber of Commerce – The Rochester Hills Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization which strives to bring companies together from all over Rochester Hills. The chamber is largely dedicated to three items innovative marketing and sales assistance, leadership development and training opportunities, and peer and community networking and sharing. The members of the chamber hope to advance civic interest through community and business development. The company hosts many events, including a Christmas parade, annually.

Rochester Hills Schools – The Rochester Hills Schools strive to educate every student from Rochester Hills from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The Rochester schools date back to 1827 in the day when townships which had more than 50 families were required to do at least 3 months of schooling. The district prides itself on its tradition of excellence. The schools hope to provide a quality education mixed with a caring atmosphere which strives to educate the whole student. The schools depend on a partnership between local families and businesses to create successful schools.
