Choosing the Right Window Treatments
There are two things to think about:
- Your budget – This is the amount you are willing to invest in your window treatment project. This by itself can put you on the right path to select the best product that also addresses your needs.
- Your purpose – How do you use the room and what is an important feature you must have.
After this, it is all about aesthetics, selecting colors, patterns, and coordinating with the rest of the room/furniture.
For instance, for a bedroom, do you need to have total darkness for the quality of sleep you desire? This is a must-have feature for people who work off shifts, such as nurses. If total darkness is a must-have feature for you, then Blackout shades are a great option. Installation is also important. We recommend an outside mount that minimizes the light gap. We also recommend the use of side panels to cover even the slightest light gaps.
You may want your room completely dark at certain times but would like to have light filter through at other times! We have a solution for that which is basically two types of fabric in one shade.

If you have a higher budget and are looking for quality window treatment options that are permanent and timeless, we may suggest shutters. Shutters are like fine furniture for your windows and they actually add to the value of your property. Therefore, they are truly an investment option. However, beware, not all shutters are created equally, and therefore not all shutters qualify as an investment or fine furniture for your windows.
For areas such as the kitchen, or family room, where you might want to have some view of the outside, especially if you have young children in the backyard, we recommend view through shades. Some will give you a banded view of the outside and others offer a complete view through option.
If the view is not a factor and you would like to have some light filter through as opposed to blackout or room darkening, we offer many different solutions from simple light filtering roller shades to more aesthetically pleasing styles of roman shades.
